We think we are hilarious. Sometimes I'll relate our stories to a member of my family; I can barely get the story out due to laughing so hard. Our antics our met with silence and occasionally a courtesy laugh. Every now and then I get lucky and can get actual laughs. That's when I know we've scored; we've been validated. As this only happens every now and then, there's a small part of us that hates those people who are naturally hilarious. Mostly it's respect, but jealousy is definitely in there. We wish we could be that funny on cue.
There's one person we know who we can't hate, even though he fits the funny person profile perfectly. We love him too much. His name is Ian. He was the RA of the boys hall we were paired up with last year. Since we moved, we don't see him anymore (which is rather depressing). One day on Facebook, Ian posted about how he needed to borrow some racquetball equipment. Being the lovely person that I am, I told him he could use mine. A day or so later I receive this wonderful voicemail from him:
Ian: "Hey Jessie. How's it going? It is Ian. I just want to thank you for letting me use your racquetball racket. I'm actually using it for a date on Saturday morning. So if things go well, I'll name my first daughter Jessie "Smerfson". Then one day in the future, she'll ask me, 'Dad. Why am I named Jessie?' And I'll tell her, 'Well Jessie, I actually don't... I actually don't remember anymore.' And she'll be like, 'Wow dad, your Alzheimers has really gotten bad.' Sorry I couldn't say that without cracking up."
You see why we love this kid? I listened to this voicemail on the way home class. I had to control my peals of laughter seen as how I was around random people and did not want to look psychotic. As soon as Katie arrived home, I played it for her. Repeat with Sara and Marina. The only reason we could hear the rest of the message is because pillows were near by that we could shove our faces into. All of us loved it. It still remains saved on my phone. Every now and then, we pull it up just so we can listen to it again. Our dream, maybe with some practice, is that we can be on the same playing field as these type of people.

now i'm three dollars richer!
sometimes, i like to think of myself as a crafty person. as such, there are various sewing/refashion blogs i follow. the other day, i was checking my favorite one and noticed one of the posts included a picture of a young-ish guy modeling a shirt the author refitted. said my-age-ish-looking guy was labeled as the author's younger brother. i couldn't help but notice that he was super familiar looking... but i figured he just had one of those faces.
tonight at dinner, a few boys came and sat at a table near where marina, sara, dallin and i were sitting. immediately i identified one of them as Blog Boy. after filling marina, sara and dallin in on the sitch, i began measuring how crazy it would be if i went and asked him if he really was the boy from the c&c blog. then i began measuring how awkward that conversation would be and decided it just wasn't worth the trouble...
until marina told me she would give me a dollar if i would talk to him. then dallin and sara offered to pitch in a dollar each, also. i almost never say no to free stuff, because i'm cheap- and i certainly don't say no to easy money! indeed, it was a strange and somewhat stilted conversation. because i don't know how to be normal. but nonetheless, i walked away with two IOUs and four quarters. win? i think so.
if sewing is your thing, or if you want to see the post, or if you just have some time to smerf, the blog is cottonandcurls.blogspot.com, and the Blog Boy post was written about a week ago about refitting t-shirts. check it out, the author is fantastic, and i think i secretly hope she'll notice traffic from my blog and come and read this and mention it and it'll be an awesome circle of upped views. true story.

Breaking News
Breaking as in heart breaking...as well as urgent.
A tragedy has occurred.
Despite all of our hard efforts at obtaining our Party Room, it was all for naught.
No, we did not get arrested, kicked out, or even discovered...we got a new hall-mate...that's right...she moved into the party room. Not that she's unwelcome, we're delighted to have someone new join our hall. But the loss of the Party Room was a hard blow to take. There goes our nights of smerfing
As soon as Marina and I realized that someone new was moving in (and the coast was clear) we ran to her room, peeled the tape off the door, and walked inconspicuously away.
So my fellow friends, this is how the tragic loss of our party room came to be. Maybe it will be in your textbooks one day. I'll sign it for you...for a small price.

"Smorfing"
That's right. "Smorfing." It's a type of alcohol in Russia. We think. Because if it isn't, how would we randomly have 4 blog viewers from Russia? Here's our theory: A really super drunk Russian man named Varfolomei was trying to order some more "smorfing." So he was typing this into his Russian form of Google, and accidentally typed "smerfing" instead, because that's what happens when you are a drunk Russian man on the internet. And when he stumbled upon our blog, he thought he would change his addiction. He went from drinking smorfing to constantly viewing our blog, so he got together with his two buddies and his lady friend and they are now going on 3 views a day. Each.
We also have a good friend from Chile, the King of Malaysia, and a German Shepherd viewing our blog. Yeah, we're famous.
